Celebrating The Fourth of July

Looking forward to being home on the fourth with family. Our tradition is to have lemonade out of the old brown stoneware churn that belonged to my great great grandmother. Just wanted to let everyone know the store will be closed that Saturday ( July 4th) but will be up and running on the following Tuesday. Woo Hoo ! A three day weekend for me!

Simple Fireplace Grouping

It was time to freshen up the fireplace. I decided to go with a cleaner look and like the simplicity of fewer items. Summertime calls for a more relaxed feel. I finally hung the blanket crane over the mantle and like the look of it. It would be nice with dried herbs or flowers instead of the textile.

Lift Top Desk

The lift top desk is a wonderful early piece. The base was added in latter years to give it a nice place to rest. The papers and bottles have an early look that make a good accent for the desk. These are from a wonderful artisan who gives her things a very aged look.

Dry Sink

Wonderful old dry sink with one drawer and square nails. One of my recent finds. It would make a nice addition to practically any place in your home.

Crocks, Yarn Winders, Large Trencher Bowl

Finally I have some of the antiques recently acquired out on the floor. This is only a sampling of my recent gathered treasures. The trencher is longing to be filled with pumpkins. At the moment it makes a nice resting place for a doll and textiles.

Gathering Antiques

I have been out and about this week gathering some wonderful things for the shop. I found some nice old crocks, baskets, tinware and wood yarn winders. At this time I am working on getting them into the shop. All you primitive lovers beware there are still things coming in daily.

Yellow Ware

The collection of bowls make a statement since they are all grouped together. They even play off the color of the old painted cabinet door. These are some recently acquired antiques and I have more goodies to bring in as soon as they are priced.
