Kitchen Cupboard

The old cupboard is a nice small size. The color is a soft brown with the work surface a natural stain. Imagine the hours some lady spent toiling to make her families meals. Antiques have such a story to be told if they could only speak.

Future Shop Owner

Jacob is my nine year old grandson who is interested in owning Gatherings some day. He has worked behind the counter and even sold some of his own items in the store. Thanks to sweet customer Jane.

Retail Buyer In Training

Ben is my seven year old grandson who appears to be checking on an order back in the storeroom /office. He may be purchasing inventory for the shop someday. He has a good eye for color and design and would be an asset to the shop.

How To Leave Comments

It is always fun to hear from many of you but some have told me it was hard to figure out how to leave a comment. I have tried to make it easier by adjusting the Profile at the bottom of the comment box. Simply leave your name or pseudo name where it says name/url then click to enter. You do not have to have the url filled in. Of course you can leave an anonymous or if you have a google or other account it could be done that way. I hope this helps and would love to hear from you.

Patriotic Ornaments

Merrilyn hand painted these pieces on both sides. They can be attached to a wreath, branch, basket or hung from a peg. One customer is planing on using them for napkin rings.

Primitiques Dry Sink

Thought I would show another of Primitiques wonderful pieces. Its a cute size dry sink to sit by a chair. The finish is mustard over black.

Primitiques Are Here

This Homestead Cupboard is in dark red over black. The finish has a very early grunged effect. Primitiques furniture line is one that impressed me in Pennsylvania for creating a truly period look. Click on the picture to get a view of the finish.

Crocks

Crocks can give that instant country look and they have so many uses. I love to use them to hold sticks or floral on top of a cupboard or on the floor. They are a nice fill in for any area. Of course the smaller ones make nice kitchen utensil holders. They speak of earlier days when women prepared their foods from scratch. Hmmm!

Small Gatherings

Shown is an old red tool carrier with yelloware plates and spooner. The garland peeking around the carrier has brownish berries and the primitive red stars are attached. It looks like the proud rooster is checking everything out.

Stool With Drawer

This is an odd little stool with drawer. When I bought it there were three rollers which made it unbalanced so I took them off. Obviously it had been used to store things that needed to be moved around.
Also pictured are some new fabric pictures and a coordinating candle mat on top of the stool. I love the black eyed susans. There are some more new candle mats in the store. They really add that softening touch to any grouping.

Old Door

Our old door at the shop finally needed to be replaced after months of it dragging on the frame. The men came this afternoon and installed a beautiful new door on the old 1930's building. There is something to be said about "new"when it comes to functionality. There had been concern at times that we wouldn't be able to lock or unlock the old thing. Whew!! Glad it is over now.

Huge Tin Scoop

This scoop is wonderful. The old metal is accented with two red wood handles. I have not seen one this large before. Can you picture it decorated for the holidays? It would look good with pumpkins and fall leaves tumbling out . At Christmas it would hold a small tree and Santa or snowman nestled by the tree. Everyday a gathering of crocks or enamel ware might be interesting.

Handpainted Gourd Chickens

This grouping was painted by a local artist. Merrilyn is so talented and does all kinds of paintings on gourds. I especially love her Santa's and pear gourds. She does not limit herself to gourds though, as we will soon see with her patriotic items.

Oldies

A grouping of tinware cooking items and enamel ware coffee pots. The use that these have seen! The graters make great luminaries.
